Marine Centrifugal Pumps, working by rotating the impeller to make the water move centrifugally. Before starting the pump, the pump casing and the suction pipe must be filled with water, and then the motor should be started to drive the impeller and the water to rotate at a high speed. The water will move centrifugally and be thrown to the outer edge of the impeller. The water then flows through the channel of the volute pump casing into the outlet pipe line.

Multistage Centrifugal Pump

Marine centrifugal pumps are often classified in the following ways:
① According to the direction of the pump shaft, it is divided into: vertical pump; horizontal pump.
②According to the way the liquid enters the impeller, it is divided into: single-suction pump; double-suction pump.
③According to the number of impellers, it can be divided into: single-stage pump; multi-stage pump

The structure of the main components of the marine centrifugal pump
1. Impeller
The impeller is mostly made of bronze, SUS and brass. The impeller can be divided into three types: closed type, semi-open type and open type. According to the different suction methods, it can be divided into single-side suction type and double-side suction type.
2. Pump Casing
The main task of the centrifugal pump casing is to gather the high-speed liquid flowing out of the impeller with the minimum hydraulic loss, guide it to the outlet of the pump or the next stage, reduce the speed of the liquid, and convert most of the kinetic energy for pressure energy.
3. Sealing Ring
The liquid discharged from the impeller may leak from the gap between the impeller and the pump casing to the suction side. This internal leakage will reduce the efficiency of the pump and reduce the capacity and head of the pump. In order to reduce internal leakage, the gap between the pump casing and the inlet of the impeller must be made very small, so that a sealing ring must be installed at the inlet of the impeller.
4. Mechanical Seal
The mechanical seal is a device that acts as a dynamic seal, preventing the liquid in the pump from leaking out of the pump through the pump shaft.
